At the heart of the allotments is a Community Pot, created by MAALG (Metfield Association of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners) on two central half plots rented from MUC (Metfield United Charities). MAALG was formed in 2008 by a group of keen, visionary gardeners/allotment holders, and liquidated in January 2025. Their members’ ideas, dedication and hard work over the years have provided unique, and much appreciated facilities at the allotment site.
On liquidation, MAALG has passed all of its assets into the care of MUC who will maintain the Community Plot for the use of all allotment holders. The Community Plot has a large shed, bench tables, a clay oven, a bore-hole-supplied water pump and some equipment including wheelbarrows and an apple press/juicer. Allotment holders can continue to make use of these facilities.
